Grated Carrot and soaked split green gram lentils make an interesting salad called Carrot Kosambari, which is one of the dishes fondly consumed on Varalakshmi Pooja.


Ingredients  4 Grated carrots

¼ cup of soaked split green gram lentils

¾ cup of freshly grated coconut

2 tablespoons of freshly cut coriander

Juice of 1 Lemon

Salt to taste

For the seasoning

1 ½ teaspoons of oil

½ teaspoon of mustard seeds

3 Green chillies finely chopped

Few curry leaves

Step By Step Method

  • In a salad bowl, combine the grated carrot, coconut, soaked split green gram lentils, salt, coriander and lemon juice.

    In a thick bottomed pan, heat the oil, let the mustard seeds splutter, add in the green chillies and curry leaves and saute for a minute. Now add this seasoning to the mixture in the salad bowl and
