Ingredients

Wheat Flour
Semolina
Moong Dal
Chana Dal
Finely chopped onion and tomatoes
Finely chopped coriander leaves
Turmeric powder, Red chilli powder, Garam masala and Coriander powder
Lemon juice
Cumin seeds and mustard seeds
Grated ginger
Salt to taste
Ghee or Cooking Oil
Lukewarm water

Step By Step Method

  • How To Make The Dal
    - Soak 1.4 cups of moong dal and 1/2 cup of chana dal overnight.
    - Pressure cook the soaked dal for 2 whistles. Don't drain the water.
    - Heat 2tbsp of ghee in a pan. Add cumin seeds, chopped green chilly and asafoetida and saute for a few seconds.
    - Place the chopped onions and tomatoes to the pan and fry for 3-4 minutes till it becomes soft.
    - Add the cooked dal to the pan along with the water and cook on a medium flame for 5 minutes. Stir it occasionally.
    - Add the chopped coriander leaves.
     
    How To Make The Baatis
    - Mix wheat flour, semolina and melted ghee in a bowl. Make a smooth dough by kneading it with lukewarm water.
    - Cover the lid and leave it for a few minutes.
    - Knead the dough again to make it more stiff and smooth.
    - Divide the dough into small equal portions like ping-pong balls.
    - Heat your gas tandoor and place the small balls into it.
    - Let it cook till the balls become brown and crusty.
     
    How To Serve
    - Break 2 baatis in a bowl.
    - Pour some ghee.
    - Add dal over it. Sprinkle finely chopped onions and coriander leaves over it.
    - Enjoy!
