Much of the beneficial properties of green tea come from the catechin content, which is a type of polyphenol. Green tea consumption might help to reduce cancer risk, reduce blood pressure, reduce insulin resistance, and increase glycemic control. The more popular kinds include sencha, genmaicha, and matcha.

Step By Step Method

  • Heat 1 cup of water short of boiling. In case the water has boiled. Shut the heat source and let it cool down for almost a minute. Now add 1 teaspoon of green tea leaves to it. If using green tea powder, the ratio would be 1 ½ teaspoon of powder to 1 cup of water. Cover the pan with a lid or if it is a teapot let it be covered. Let the tea steep for 3 minutes. Now strain the tea and relish it with a teaspoon of honey. You could taste the brewed tea after 1 ½ minute and decide as per the flavor, how much you want it to be brewed. Steeping the tea over 3 minutes can lend the tea bitter.

    If using a green tea bag, one tea bag for 1 cup of tea would be perfect.
