Instant Rava appam or Semolina Appe prepared with sooji and veggies are so devouring that everyone just love having it. This quick to make snack can be served at breakfast or in supper with any chutney or dip.


  • 1 cup Rava/suji/semolina
  • 1 Onion
  • 3-4 tablespoon curd or 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 tablespoon oil+ oil for pan
  • 1/4th tablespoon Mustard Seeds
  • 1/4th tablespoon Urid dal
  • 4-5 Curry Leaves
  •  Fruit Salt(Eno)
  •  Salt to Taste


Step By Step Method

  • Step 1

    Heat oil in a kadai. Add mustard seeds and curry leaves. Allow them splutter.  Then add urad dal and cook till it turns brown in colour.

    Step 2

    Now add finely chopped onions and sprinkle some salt. Cook till the onions are translucent

    Step 3

    Take rava in a bowl and add some curd or buttermilk. If you have added curd then add some water and make it a batter form.


    Now add the onion mixture we prepared and mix.


    Add some fruit salt(eno) & stir well. Keep it aside for 15 minutes.

    Step 6

    Heat the Prestige paniyaram cookware and add a drop of oil in each of its grooves.

    Step 7

    Now add a spoon full of rava mixture we prepared in each groove. Cover the Prestige paniyaram cookware with any plate and cook for 5 minutes

    Step 8

    Flip the appam with help of spoon and cook for another 2 minutes

    Step 9

    Instant rava appam/appe/paniyaram are ready. Serve them hot with peanut & coriander chutney.
