Poha Appe is a healthy recipe with the goodness of vegetables with Indian spices incorporated, prepared in Paniyarakkal for the calorie conscious.


¾ cup of soaked Poha (beaten rice soaked for ½ hour and mashed)

2 boiled Potatoes (mashed)

1 finely chopped Green Chilly

½ teaspoon of Red Chillie Powder

¾ teaspoon of Coriander Powder

½ teaspoon of Amchoor powder ( Mango Powder)

Salt to taste

3 tablespoons of finely chopped fresh Coriander Leaves

2 tablespoons of Grated Carrot

1 tablespoon of finely chopped Capsicum

½ teaspoon of Cumin Seeds

2 tablespoons of Cooking Oil



Step By Step Method

  • Take a mixing bowl and combine all the ingredients together to make a dough. Grease your palms with cooking oil and make small lemon sized balls from the dough. Heat the Paniyarakkal, lightly brush the cavities with oil. Cook the Poha Appe in the Paniyarakkal for 3-4 minutes on each side and cook it evenly all around to a crisp golden brown colour.


    Your Poha Appe are ready.
