Bottle gourd is one of those green veggies which are not loved by many but with this interesting twist, you are sure to garner a few fans. Blanched bottle gourd marinated in lime, stuffed with cottage cheese and baked beautifully, can interest your taste buds.


2 Inches of Slice of bottle gourd
2 Inches Ginger
4 Cloves of garlic
1 Teaspoon Turmeric powder
Salt to taste
1 Teaspoon Cumin seeds
1 Small potato
¼ Cups Green peas
⅓ Capsicum
1 Teaspoon Cumin powder
1 Teaspoon Chilli powder
1 Teaspoon Coriander powder
1 Teaspoon Dry fenugreek
½ Cups Curd
1 Raisin

Step By Step Method


    Step 1-

    Cut the bottle as shown. Grind ginger, garlic, salt, half teaspoon turmeric.


    Step 2-

    Apply to the bottle gourd and leave it aside and Boil the potatoes. Once potatoes are done in same water boil some peas too.

    Step 3-


    To make the Stuffing In a pan, heat some oil and add some cumin and add chopped capsicum. Add some turmeric and add half of Cumin and coriander powder.

    Step 4-


    Now add some handful of raisin and finally add potato and peas.

    Step 5-


    Mash them so it can be stuffed easily. Stuff the marinating bottle gourd with potato mix and fry them in the pan with bit of oil. In the same pan heat some more oil and add some cumin.

    Step 6-


    After frying onions Then add ginger garlic paste and bit of water. Add turmeric, cumin, coriander and chilli powder and roast them slowly. Crush cardamom in motor and paste it and add to the pan.

    Step 7-


    Cook till it leaves oil and then reduce the heat. Add the curd and let it simmer on low heat. Make sure you don’t increase heat. Add dried fenugreek leaves. And cook till oil starts separating. Now add the fried bottle gourd pieces on the gravy.

    Step 8-


    Serve with hot fulkas (Indian flat bread) or can be eaten with rice too
